A Passion for Coding

My Fascination and Journey with Technology stems from having a sick childhood. Until the age of 7, I used to have to use oxygen tanks to breathe, as I was born prematurely, thus developing severe childhood asthma. I spent most of my time watching Discovery Turbo, Science, and National Geographic, which ignited my fascination with how things worked — from machines to software to everything in between.

Whenever I wasn't bedridden, I would tinker with our family computer, an old pre-built Windows 98 system — from spending hours in MS Paint with my sibling, to taking it apart and trying to put it back together. That hands-on curiosity with hardware was where it all truly began for me. There was something deeply satisfying about understanding a machine not just as a tool, but as a physical thing you could open up, break, and hopefully fix.

My first real interaction with coding came when we upgraded to a Windows XP machine and I wanted to run Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion on it. Unfortunately for little old me, our computer couldn't run it — until I found a shady blog explaining how to use scripts and the terminal to make it work. Long story short, that's how I learned what a terminal was, how to run scripts, and not to trust shady websites. I also learned how to reinstall Windows after getting a virus, so a net positive overall.

Over the years, that same curiosity grew in both directions — deeper into software through modding, 2D games, and apps, but also back to hardware, fixing and reviving old tech, and appreciating the full stack of what technology really is. That dual fascination with the physical and the digital is what has shaped me most, and ultimately led me to Software and Web Development as my path — though I never stopped taking things apart.
